THE CARNIVORE DIET BENEFITS
We can admit the carnivore meal plan gets a bit bland at times. The same old stuff every night makes it hard to stay committed. That’s why we want to show you your new favorite carnivore chicken recipe. Actually, two different carnivore diet chicken recipes.
Whether you prefer carnivore diet chicken thighs or breasts, you’re going to LOVE these unique dinner ideas. Both carnivore-compliant, both super rich and cheesy.
Carnivore Diet Chicken Breast Recipe: Crack Chicken
We have to say, we were hesitant about this carnivore chicken recipe at first. Fittoserve Group posted about it on their website but we thought, why not give it a shot?
It’s a slow-cooker dish. You shred chicken breast into a thick, rich mixture of cream cheese, cheddar, and crispy bacon. There’s a reason it’s called crack chicken. It sits somewhere between a dip and a main course.
We loved how versatile it was compared to other carnivore diet chicken breast recipes, too. You can eat it straight from the bowl, stuff it into egg wraps, or scoop it up with our meat chips.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 8 oz full-fat cream cheese
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar
- 6-8 strips bacon (cooked and crumbled)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Place your chicken breasts in the slow cooker after seasoning them to your heart’s content.
- Lather the chicken in cream cheese and cover it up. Let it cook on low for 4 hours (or high for 2 hours if you’re in a rush.
- You’ll know you’re ready for the next step when the chicken easily shreds apart with a fork. Pull it apart right in the slow cooker.
- Stir in shredded cheddar until it’s fully melted and combined with the chicken breast.
- Fold in crumbled bacon.
That’s it, just five steps! The beauty of this carnivore diet chicken breast recipe is how little effort it takes. Throw everything in, walk away for a few hours, and come back to a finished meal that tantalizes the taste buds.
We know some carnivore purists ask…is cheese carnivore? Yes, but if you’re not sold, you can skip the cream cheese in favor of tallow or ghee.
Carnivore Diet Chicken Thighs: Cheesy Cajun Chicken
Maybe you need a bit more fat in your life, or want something with more of a twist to it. This is one of those chicken recipes for carnivore diet we keep going back to. We still haven’t gotten sick of it after making it at least 10 times by now.
We found this one from Trina Krug over on her foodie blog. This stovetop recipe takes less than 30 minutes, so it’s a better choice if you don’t have time to let the slow cooker work. The cajun heat really sets it apart from other recipes you’ll try.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1 tablespoon bacon grease
- 1 teaspoon cajun seasoning
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
- Bacon pieces for garnish
Instructions
- Set your stove to medium heat and warm up some bacon grease in a skillet.
- Season chicken thighs on both sides with your cajun seasoning.
- Sear the thighs until they’re golden brown and thoroughly cooked. Set them aside for now.
- Drain the excess grease from your skillet and lower the heat to medium. Melt some butter in the same skillet.
- Pour in heavy cream and let it simmer until you see it thickening up.
- Stir in parmesan until the sauce is smooth.
- Put the chicken thighs back in the skillet and caot them with sauce. Top with bacon bits and enjoy!
Cajun seasoning is a little contentious in the carnivore community. Technically some of the ingredients aren’t on the approved carnivore diet food list - but neither is the carnivore diet with fruit, and plenty of people still do that!
Our stance is that pure paprika, garlic powder, cayenne, oregano, and thyme are just fine on carnivore. The pre-made seasoning packs that combine sugar or anti-caking agents are not.
But if you would rather not even worry about the carnivore rules, you can always swap out the cajun for salt and pepper instead. Just know you’re really missing out!
Putting Your Own Twist on These Chicken Recipes For Carnivore Diet
We think the original chefs did an amazing job coming up with these carnivore chicken recipes. But you can look at them as templates ready to be made your own. Swap thighs in place of breasts if you want more fat in the crack recipe. Double the bacon. Use gruyere instead of cheddar.
The possibilities are endless, and that’s honestly the key takeaways from this carnivore diet chicken recipe guide. We could go on and on about more basic recipes, but you probably already have those in your rotation. Try these and see what you’ve been missing out on!

Frequently asked questions
How can I make carnivore chicken taste better?
Fat is the best way to add flavor. Butter, cheese, tallow, bacon grease - these add richness and depth to any dish. Salt generously as well.
What chicken is best for a carnivore diet?
Thighs are far more flavorful than breasts and they have more fat, so we honestly prefer the cajun recipe above to the chicken breast carnivore recipe.
Are these recipes really carnivore-friendly?
Yep, we know it sounds too good to be true - and you really won’t believe it once you give them a shot! The one exception is the cajun seasoning, which really depends on your definition of carnivore. We think in the context of the carnivore chicken recipe above, it’s fair game.
What can I substitute for the cheese?
Cheese is technically carnivore friendly, but it doesn’t agree with everyone’s stomach. You can swap in softened butter with bone broth and reduce it until thick. Or, just substitute in ghee.
What sides work best with carnivore chicken?
Crispy bacon is always our go-to, especially since you’re going to be adding bacon to the main dish anyways.
